In Bitlis, little Ada, who opened a banner saying “Support my eye surgery Tayyip grandpa” during the mass opening ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was brought to Istanbul for treatment. It was stated that the 40-minute operation that little Ada underwent at a hospital in Beyoğlu was successful. Ada Koçyiğit said, “We opened a banner, Tayyip grandpa saw it. I had surgery. Everything happened thanks to him,” while her father Musa Koçyiğit expressed his happiness with the words, “I am very happy because my daughter sees the world beautifully.”

9-year-old Ada Koçyiğit was experiencing balance problems due to strabismus in her eye. Her father Musa Koçyiğit, unable to continue his daughter’s treatment due to financial impossibilities, found a solution by attending President Erdoğan’s rally in Bitlis. Father Musa and mother Ceylan Koçyiğit went with their daughter to the “Public and Private Sector Investments Mass Opening Ceremony” attended by President Erdoğan. During his speech at the mass opening ceremony in Bitlis, President Erdoğan saw the banner that read “Support my eye surgery Tayyip grandpa” and instructed his doctor and Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu regarding the matter. In line with President Erdoğan’s instructions, Ada was brought to the Beyoğlu Eye Training and Research Hospital in Istanbul.

Little Ada was operated on at the hospital
Ada, who was brought to the hospital, was treated after a 40-minute operation. It was learned that little Ada’s health condition is good and the treatment process will be monitored. Little Ada, who is expected to be discharged from the hospital on Monday, expressed her happiness as a father, saying that he is very pleased that his daughter sees the world beautifully.

“We opened a banner, Tayyip grandpa saw it”
Ada Koçyiğit, who underwent surgery due to her eye condition, stated, “We opened a banner, Tayyip grandpa saw it. After that, we came from Diyarbakır to Istanbul. Then I had surgery. Everything happened thanks to him. May Allah be pleased with him. I miss my friends and teachers very much.”

“As a father, I am very happy that my daughter sees the world beautifully”
Musa Koçyiğit, the father of Ada Koçyiğit who had eye surgery, said, “We have been here for about 15 days. I thank everyone from the Ministry of Health to the Presidency, the Provincial Health Directorate and the Governorship for their concern. The surgery was performed yesterday. The operation lasted 40 minutes. It is very important for us, I am very happy. As a father, I am very happy that my daughter sees the world beautifully. May God not make anyone experience such pains. I sincerely thank our President. We are here thanks to him. They are doing everything necessary for Ada’s eye health. May God grant our President a long life. May God not let us experience his absence.”

“The post-surgery condition is quite successful”
Prof. Dr. Muhittin Taşkapılı, Chief Physician of Beyoğlu Eye Training and Research Hospital, stated that Ada Koçyiğit’s surgery was successful, saying, “During our President’s visit to Bitlis, there was a request for treatment for her eye condition. Our President, as always, showed sensitivity and upon his instructions to our Minister of Health, Ada Koçyiğit was referred to our hospital for her eye problem. The Ministry took care of her transfer here and her accommodation. As a result of the examination conducted by our doctors last week, a decision was made for surgery. She had previously undergone surgery for strabismus in 2018. This was her second surgery. This surgery was carried out yesterday. There is currently no problem. Her examination on the first day was also done. She is continuing in a normal course. We are likely to discharge her on Monday. She had developed strabismus in 2017, which was monitored, and she had surgery at another hospital in 2018. After a period of proper vision, strabismus reappeared in the last 2 years. In 2022, another hospital suggested surgery, but the family could not afford it. Therefore, they made such a request at the Bitlis meeting with the President. Ada had a strabismus condition. Intervention was made on her left eye, and while it was normal for a while, strabismus developed in her right eye. An intervention was made on her right eye muscles to achieve a normal line of sight. The condition after the surgery is quite successful. Of course, she needs to be monitored for a while. Whether another surgery will be necessary in the future will be determined by the process. The intervention duration was between 30-40 minutes. She received general anesthesia, but no problems occurred. Even if it is not congenital, strabismus can develop in children of all ages for various reasons. She will need glasses. She will have to use glasses. This is due to the relationship between the eye muscles, the brain, and vision. The child had no history of accidents.”
