At the 3rd Bursa International Gastronomy Festival organized by the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality to promote Bursa’s registered flavors to the world, a record attempt for ‘Bursa Milk Halva’ was made with the participation of around 150 chefs from different cities of Turkey. The approximately 5 tons of milk halva prepared in a giant cauldron was served to the citizens by Mayor Mustafa Bozbey.
The 3rd Gastronomy Festival, organized with the theme ‘Bursa on My Palate’ by the Metropolitan Municipality, aims to bring Bursa’s rich culinary culture to tourism and open it to the world, featuring colorful record attempts and competitions. A record attempt was made with ‘Milk Halva’, a sweet registered as a geographical indication of Bursa, in Merinos Park with the contributions of the Bursa Chefs Association. About 150 chefs who came to Bursa from different cities of Turkey worked together to prepare 5 tons of milk halva at once in the massive cauldron. Mayor Mustafa Bozbey, who lit the fire under the cauldron, stirred the milk halva with giant wooden ladles alongside his wife, Seden Bozbey. After tasting it first with his wife, Mayor Mustafa Bozbey then served it to the guests filling the area. Congratulating all the chefs who contributed to the record attempt, Mayor Bozbey said, “Our chefs made 5 tons of milk halva this year. They will make even more in the coming years. The milk halva, which is a sweet with a geographical indication of Bursa, must definitely be included in the Guinness World Records. We will serve the milk halva made in the giant cauldron to 20,000 people in Merinos Park and Kent Meydanı.”
