In an event organized by the Turkish Red Crescent Zonguldak Branch, national wrestlers came together with young people and donated blood in a mobile blood donation vehicle.

The Turkish Red Crescent Zonguldak Branch held a discussion titled “We are deeply connected to each other in Zonguldak.” National wrestlers Adem Kara, Serhat Balcı, Fatih Çakıroğlu, Abdullah Güngör, and Recep Kara, who is a four-time Kırkpınar champion, participated in the discussion.

Young athletes directed questions to the national wrestlers during the session. When asked about his story of starting wrestling, Recep Kara expressed that today sports can also be pursued as a profession. He said, “Today, sports can be practiced as a profession. Because we started sports at the age of 9-10, but we did this job as a profession. We successfully represented our country both nationally and internationally. At the same time, we earned money from this work. We supported our family through this path. Therefore, I thank you for starting sports. Hopefully, in the future, young people with talent can also make this a profession. It’s a beautiful profession. No matter which branch you pursue, you remain healthy, continue as a profession, socialize, and see the world. We also recommend our friends who do not engage in sports to start doing so.”

Fatih Çakıroğlu stated that his family directed him to sports at a young age to stay away from negative habits, saying, “While our father was guiding us in this field, it was not for championship or success, but to stay away from bad habits. Sports kept us away from evils and we succeeded. You all should stay away from bad friends and bad habits. You will be healthy and successful.”

A participant asked the national athletes about the reason Turkey could not win a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Responding to the young man’s question, national wrestler Abdullah Güngör said, “As the İBB Sports Club, we won a bronze medal at the Olympics. Buse Çavuşoğlu is our athlete. We would have liked to win gold, but she came in third. Wrestling is the branch that has won the most medals in Olympic history. I believe that if our state leaders take the necessary precautions and conduct better feasibility studies, we will achieve better results in the future.”

During the discussion, a medal was awarded to national wrestler Abdullah Güngör for his regular blood donations. After the discussion, the national athletes donated blood in the Turkish Red Crescent’s blood collection vehicle.
