SAMSON (IHA) – Since it became operational on April 24, 1 million 850 thousand stones have been produced at the Atakum Municipality Stone and Paving Facility in Samsun.

The Taflan Ilhan Kılıç Interlocking Stone and Paving Facility is engaged in the mass production of stones, paving stones, and curbs to be used on roads, sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, and open areas, with its increased capacity. The facility, which was halted on January 13, was reopened with the appointment of Atakum Mayor Serhat Türkel. Since it began operations on April 24, it has produced 1 million 850 thousand stones, starting with zero stock. Production, which was 500-600 square meters in previous years, is projected to exceed 800 square meters per day starting from April 2024. The municipal teams continue to produce stones and paving stones that will make pedestrian crossings, sidewalks, and roads more comfortable.

“We will focus on infrastructure works”

Atakum Mayor Serhat Türkel stated that the production capacity at the Atakum Municipality Taflan Ilhan Kılıç Interlocking Stone and Paving Facility is increasing day by day, saying, “After the facility was taken over, our Department of Public Works delivered 35,650 square meters of stones in a 90-day period. Compared to previous years, production has increased by approximately 50%. While expanding our production capacity, we aim to make the points needed by our city more comfortable as soon as possible. We are intensively continuing our stone production for disabled citizens. We will focus on infrastructure works in our city to raise the living standards and quality of daily life for the residents of Atakum. Our municipal teams are working together diligently from all directions,” he said.

Facility Manager Özgür Öztürk, providing information about the works, said, “Since we started production on April 24, 2024, we have produced approximately 1 million 850 thousand stones in our facilities. The daily production, which was 500-600 square meters previously, has increased to over 800 square meters during the term of our Mayor Serhat Türkel and his team. Since we started production, we have completed stone, paving, road, and sidewalk work covering 36 thousand square meters in the streets and avenues of Atakum. Our municipal teams continue to work on roads and sidewalks every day. We currently have about 10 thousand square meters of paving stones in our stock. In addition, we are rapidly continuing our production of curbs, rain gutters, and tactile paving for the visually impaired. As a result, in this new period, our production has increased by 200 square meters compared to the previous period. Our goal is to produce 1 thousand square meters of stones daily. We continue to produce for Atakum with all our personnel,” he said.
