Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor İmamoğlu attended the opening of the War of Independence and İnönü Victories Memorial House and Observation Terrace in Bozüyük.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu participated in the opening of the Independence War and İnönü Victories Memorial House and Observation Terrace in the Bozüyük district of Bilecik.

İmamoğlu, who attended the opening of the memorial house, which was undertaken by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and whose foundation was laid on January 28, 2023, stated in his speech, “It seems that all issues in our country have been resolved, and there are no problems, as you all know, I am saddened that some consider dealing with the brilliant graduates of Harbiye as an issue and even seek to gain political profit from it. I wonder if they ever consider how detrimental such attitudes and behaviors are to this nation. I condemn the mentality that attempts to alienate the nation from one another, especially in an elected meeting. Frankly, it seems that in that specifically elected meeting, exactly 8 days after the event, there is an attempt to rekindle a diminished fire. I ask, for God’s sake, what is your problem? What do you want to extract from this? What are you trying to escalate from here? Won’t you create an environment for this nation without making them fight for even one day? What is your issue? Why do you want to instigate conflict among this nation? These people are terrified that individuals might love each other a little more, embrace one another a little more. What have the young people done? On the happiest, proudest, and most honorable days of their lives, they have expressed their gratitude to the eternal commander who has not seen his home, his bed, or embraced his mother fully, having spent his life on the frontlines, in a great enthusiasm in front of their mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, and siblings. What do you want from this? What is the effort to find faults in the expression of respect for Mustafa Kemal Atatürk? Do you know what you did to the spirit within those lieutenants, the children you are angry at today? You covered the shining light of those lieutenants with a dark veil. There are not just 20-30 young people seen on camera. Look at the photo taken from afar. Hundreds of young people from the schools where our three young girls came first have come pouring in, celebrating by raising their symbolic swords in the air.”

Bozüyük Mayor Mehmet Talat Bakkalcıoğlu stated, “I am serving my fourth term as mayor. I know both the time before 2000 and after the end of 2019. In the past, districts like ours would go to the big cities for support and tell the metropolitan mayors, ‘Do you have any old trucks, excavators, or vehicles that you have set aside? If so, can you give them to me?’ That was how support was provided. But during the 2019-2024 period, our president Ekrem initiated a completely different structuring. He sent teams. First to the mayors in the Marmara region, then to all mayors across Turkey, and he said, ‘Can we work together on the projects you want to do?’ I was honestly surprised. And through this method, our president has made significant contributions to many cities in the municipality over the past five years.”

After the ribbon-cutting, the attendees toured the newly built memorial house, and the program concluded. The opening ceremony was attended by Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Bilecik Mayor Melek Mızrak Subaşı, Bozüyük Mayor Mehmet Talat Bakkalcıoğlu, party members, and many citizens.
