The “Special Touch to Wood” project, financed by the General Directorate of Relations with Civil Society of the Ministry of Interior and conducted under a protocol signed between the Governorship of Kastamonu and the Taşköprü Association for the Support and Solidarity of Individuals with Physical and Mental Disabilities, has concluded. At the closing meeting held at Kastamonu Central Sports Hall, the wooden products created by the special individuals during the project process were exhibited.
In his speech at the closing meeting of the exhibition, Tevfik Yıldırım, the President of the Taşköprü Association for the Support and Solidarity of Individuals with Physical and Mental Disabilities, stated, “Our special individuals received training related to wood within the scope of the project and today they are exhibiting the products they made. Additionally, as part of capacity development efforts, the Unhindered Living Center was visited for experience sharing. Various trainings were provided to the families of our special individuals, starting from traffic issues to first aid, personal development, and photography. We have published a magazine that brings together all the activities we carried out within the scope of the project into a permanent form. We would like to thank everyone who did not spare their support during this process.”
Huriye Boyraz, President of the Association for the Solidarity of Individuals with Disabilities and Their Families, expressed the happiness of bringing a project with dreams to life, saying, “Very beautiful products came out of this workshop. 30 of our special individuals continued with the workshop activities. We hope to continue this. After leaving school, our children have nowhere to go. We are following our children. Hopefully, we will continue this from now on.”

30 individuals and their families received education
In the “Special Touch to Wood” project, the aim was to develop the vocational qualifications of 30 disadvantaged disabled individuals aged 15-50 living in Kastamonu through a woodworking training workshop, thereby strengthening their social integration. With a total budget of 155,000 TL, the project provided training to special individuals and their families for their personal and social development, including communication and body language, team spirit and leadership management skills, basic first aid principles, entrepreneurship, digital marketing, product photography, and social media management. In addition, it is aimed that special individuals will contribute to their family budget by selling the products they made during the project, along with the training they received in the established woodworking workshop.
