SUBÜ organized an Orientation and Development Seminar for newly appointed faculty members at the institution. Among the topics covered in the seminar were the 10 new programs launched in line with YÖK’s digital transformation initiative, which included the academics involved in these programs.

Sakarya University of Applied Sciences (SUBÜ) conducted an Orientation and Development Seminar for 29 newly appointed academics, organized by the Distance Education Application and Research Center (UZEM). Academics from the 10 new programs launched at SUBÜ Arifiye Vocational School, Computer Technologies Vocational School, and Hendek Vocational School were also present at the seminar, which was part of the Higher Education Council’s (YÖK) digital transformation efforts. The seminar concluded with a meeting attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sarıbıyık and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sinan Serdar Özkan, where participation certificates were presented.

During the seminar, Geyve Vocational School Lecturer Süleyman Bakkal and Student Affairs Department Head Hasan Türk shared information about the education and training regulations, the responsibilities of instructors in double major and minor programs. Prof. Dr. Şevki Ulema, Director of Sapanca Tourism Vocational School, provided insights into the Professional Education Evaluation and Accreditation Association (MEDEK) processes. Deputy Secretary General Hakan Kocaman discussed the various systems used for different purposes, while UZEM Director Dr. Selman Hızal organized activities related to remote education activities and the use of productive artificial intelligence in education. Lecturer Dr. Münevver Gündüz presented innovative pedagogical application examples that can be used both in and out of the classroom. Moreover, Sakarya Vocational School faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Dereli and Dr. Fatma Büşra Polat conveyed the responsibilities of faculty members regarding workplace applications and internships within the framework of the +1 Education Model. Dr. Gökhan Atalı, Director of Computer Technologies Vocational School, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Erduman, Director of Hendek Vocational School, hosted visits to coordination, laboratories, and centers working in the fields of information technologies and autonomous systems.

The seminar provided multiple contributions

Emphasizing that they have paid great attention to merit and collaborative work since their establishment, SUBÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sarıbıyık stated, “As a result, we have managed to become a family that supports each other and works in selflessness and peace for years. Of course, we continue to develop every day. We have colleagues who leave our institution and new ones who join us. Therefore, orientation programs and such development seminars provide significant contributions. UZEM has implemented a useful seminar that brings together many units, facilitating the integration of the newly joined academics among us. We find it very meaningful that YÖK has launched 10 new programs at SUBÜ, taking our university’s suggestions into account in line with the digital transformation initiative. Naturally, these programs have filled our quotas with many new academics. In this regard, we are pleased with the contribution of the seminar to such an important situation that we value highly. Inshallah, in the future, we will continue our activities to facilitate the adaptation of each member who joins our family and to carry our family peacefully into the future. I would like to thank all my colleagues who contributed to this effort and wish ease and success to the newly appointed academics.”
