The September Ordinary Council Meeting of Osmangazi Municipality took place under the chairmanship of Osmangazi Mayor Erkan Aydın. The meeting, held in memory of Feyyaz Alptuğ Memişoğulları, a member of the Osmangazi Municipal Council who passed away last month, was conducted in a somber atmosphere. All council members commemorated their deceased colleague, and a photo of Memişoğulları was placed on the chair where he always sat.

In his opening speech at the September Ordinary Council Meeting, Osmangazi Mayor Erkan Aydın remembered Feyyaz Alptuğ Memişoğulları, who passed away last month. Expressing that they still feel the sadness of Memişoğulları’s passing as if it were the first day, Mayor Aydın said, “I once again extend my condolences to his family, loved ones, and all of us due to the death of Feyyaz Alptuğ Memişoğulları. He left us at a young age. He was a brother we loved very much. May his place be paradise. May he rest in peace. He will continue to live in our memories. I once again pray for his mercy from God.” Following Mayor Aydın’s speech, CHP Osmangazi District Chairman Cengiz Çelikten and AK Party Osmangazi District Chairman Adnan Kurtuluş also remembered Memişoğulları.

Urban transformation begins in 3 regions

Before moving on to the agenda items, Osmangazi Mayor Erkan Aydın provided information to the council members about the investments and services they undertook in July and August. Mayor Aydın also informed the council members about the studies they plan to carry out in the new term, saying that they will start urban transformation projects in three regions of Osmangazi in the coming days. He stated that they will first initiate transformation work at the intersection of Çiftehavuzlar Boulevard and Kanalboyu, as a continuation of the Soğanlı Urban Transformation project, saying, “In the coming days, we will hold a meeting with the owners at the location where we will carry out the transformation. We will provide them with comprehensive information about the project. We will first obtain the consent of the citizens. After receiving the approval of the majority, we want to start the transformation process.”

Mayor Aydın also mentioned that they will carry out urban transformation in Soğukkuyu and Ebu İshak neighborhoods, saying, “In Soğukkuyu Neighborhood, there are buildings that are in such a state of deterioration that they wouldn’t withstand a tremor of 5, dating back to 1978. We will renew these old buildings through urban transformation and construct earthquake-resistant housing. Similarly, we will initiate a transformation in Ebu İshak Neighborhood as well. There are buildings there that would collapse even in a small earthquake. We have also started work in this neighborhood.”

Support for Education in Osmangazi

We will open it at the end of September. Here, our children aged 3-6 will receive education. We will also provide services to our children at Zübeyde Hanım Daycare and Kindergarten located in Dikkaldırım Neighborhood. Our Children’s Workshops project is ongoing. We will provide distance education support to 10,000 secondary school students to ensure equal opportunities in education. We will work on increasing the reading opportunities for our visually impaired citizens. We will have projects for the publication of special books they can read. Our library services continue. So far, 50,000 books have been borrowed and read from our libraries. We will establish another new library in our district. Our OSMEK courses will continue. We plan to conduct English and mathematics study sessions for our students. We will continue our activities with the From Farm to School and Nature Schools project as well as our Children’s Theater events. While doing all this, we have only one goal. To carry out our activities along the path drawn by the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who said, ‘My spiritual legacy is science and reason.'”
