In Hatay, where a significant loss of life occurred during the earthquake, 600 housing units have been effectively rebuilt with a 5-month effort and 22-meter deep bored piles, as part of applications made by citizens to reserve land. Hatay Governor Mustafa Masatlı informed about the ongoing works in the 600 housing units and stated that it is planned to deliver the houses to their rightful owners by January.

In the disaster of the century, 25,000 people had lost their lives in Hatay, which suffered heavy damage. Many people also lost their lives in the 600 housing units located in the Güzelburç neighborhood of Antakya district, which was one of the locations with the highest death toll. After the destruction, teams worked tirelessly to clear the debris, and only the sign of the 600 housing units remained. The area where the sign, which moved those who saw it and took the residents back to the old days, was included in the reserved area upon citizens’ requests, and in March 2024, construction work by Emlak Konut had started in the region. As a result of the day-and-night efforts closely monitored by Governor Masatlı, a site with 25 blocks was effectively rebuilt in the area. After excavations reaching up to 6 meters for the foundations of the rebuilt 600 housing units, 22-meter bored pile manufacturing was carried out, resulting in houses with a gross area of 122 square meters designed with a special project. The sample apartment that people visited out of longing for their homes is receiving appreciation. Governor Masatlı provided information about the process in the 600 housing units and the works being carried out on the buildings.

“God willing, we will have delivered our houses by January”
Governor Masatlı stated that they plan to deliver the houses by January, saying, “We are in one of the regions where we experienced the most loss of life, especially in Antakya, during the February 6 earthquake. This is the place known as the 600 housing units, and we first pray for the mercy of those who lost their lives. After we cleared the debris here, we received applications from our citizens requesting a site here. Along with this, we started construction here with the help of Emlak Konut. Currently, construction on 25 blocks is ongoing. God willing, we will have delivered our houses by January. Our project here is a special project. The gross area is 122 square meters, and the net area is 109 square meters.”

“After excavation, bored piles are manufactured between 18 and 22 meters”
Governor Masatlı expressed that they learn lessons from past experiences during the construction process, saying, “While the constructions are being made, we learn lessons from everything that has happened before. In all our constructions here and elsewhere, excavation is initially done between 5.5 and 6.5 meters. After excavation, bored pile manufacturing is carried out between 18 and 22 meters. Following the bored pile fabrication, approximately 1 meter of engineering fill is made. On top of that, we elevate our construction with a raft foundation. While raising our construction, a tunnel formwork system is applied. Currently, the latest construction techniques are being used. All necessary precautions and safety measures are taken to ensure that our citizens can live here peacefully and securely without any concerns in the future. God willing, we will deliver these houses to the rightful owners among our citizens. We will enable them to live here in peace, happiness, and even more securely than before. Work has been ongoing here for about 5 months.”
