A female agricultural engineer who established a “super fruit” orchard in Erzincan experienced the excitement of the “first harvest”.

Three years ago, Esra Cahyir Evrensel, an Agricultural Engineer, established a black chokeberry orchard in Erzincan, which is also referred to as a “super fruit”, and has now completed the first harvest of this super fruit.

Three years ago, Evrensel applied to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s Expert Hands Project and planted 3,000 black chokeberry seedlings in the orchard located in Yaylabaşı Neighborhood with the grant support she received. She experienced the excitement of the “first harvest” as the first female entrepreneur to grow black chokeberries in Erzincan.

Evrensel, who lives in Ankara but grows the super fruit in her hometown Erzincan, described the benefits of the super fruit, stating, “Black chokeberry is a very valuable plant known as a super fruit, containing high antioxidant value, vitamins A, B, C, and E, as well as minerals like potassium and magnesium. Therefore, we tried to grow black chokeberries in our own hometown. We have obtained very good yields. Now we are doing the first harvest. Hopefully, it will be fruitful.”

A remedy for everything from cancer to kidney failure!

Evrensel expressed that the benefits of black chokeberry are not well known enough, stating that the super fruit boosts immunity, which is why cancer patients consume a lot of black chokeberries. Furthermore, she noted that black chokeberry is a very valuable plant for kidney failure, eye disorders, food intolerances, and diabetes, pointing out that it is also used in various fields such as the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics industries.

“Chokeberries grown completely organically can be easily supplied from Erzincan!”

Evrensel indicated that the climate of Erzincan is quite suitable for growing black chokeberries and emphasized that the chokeberries are grown completely organically. Evrensel stated, “Black chokeberry is already used in the pharmaceutical industry. Therefore, we do not recommend any chemicals in its production. Today we completed our first harvest. The yield was higher than we expected. We are ready to sell the black chokeberry.”
