The orientation program prepared by the Ministry of National Education for preschool and first-grade primary school students started today.

In the orientation week program, which introduces the educational environment to students and parents, as well as teachers and friends, parents, students, and teachers will be supported by acquaintance activities.

This year, guidance activities and adaptation training for the new school year will be organized on September 2-3 for students starting preschool and first grade. For students starting middle school, guidance activities for school adaptation will be held in the week of September 9.

On the first day of school for students starting primary school, a presentation titled “Adaptation Week for 1st Grade” will be made for their families. On the same day, families will be introduced to the school’s indoor and outdoor environment along with their children. On the second day of the adaptation training, adaptation week activities will be conducted at schools.

For middle school students, a presentation on the “Middle School 5th Grade Adaptation Guide” will be held for families on September 9. Prior to the presentation, acquaintance activities with families may take place. Families will also be introduced to the school’s indoor and outdoor environment.

On the second day, guidance applications will be conducted for students. The hours for the activities will be planned by the school administrations.

In order to ensure family-child-teacher interaction, it is recommended that all families participate in the activities with their children.

Books Prepared for Students Starting High School

The Ministry of National Education has prepared “Welcome to High School” books consisting of 8 sections that include changes in the curriculum for students starting high school for the first time this year.

The books are designed to introduce students to the subjects they will encounter in high school, explain the functioning of the programs, convey how they should study for their lessons and what is necessary for success, as well as introduce educational platforms and resources they can use throughout high school and provide example applications.

The “Welcome to High School” books cover topics related to innovations in Turkish language and literature, history, geography, philosophy, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and English subjects, as well as what the high school curriculum includes.

Each of the books prepared by the Ministry consists of 8 sections: “Welcome to High School”, “What’s in this Book”, “Introduction of the Subjects”, “What Will We Learn”, “How Should I Study”, “Tips for Success”, “Online Learning Platforms”, and “Sample Activities”.

Teachers Will Receive Training on the New Curriculum

The new curriculum prepared within the scope of the Turkey Century Education Model will be gradually implemented starting from September 9, 2024-2025 school year, beginning with preschool, first grade primary school, fifth grade middle school, and ninth grade high school.

In this context, the Ministry of National Education had initiated “Turkey Century Education Model Educator Training Courses” for teachers, conducted by academics and field experts involved in the preparation phase of the new programs.

More than 9,000 teachers participated in 61 different course programs lasting 40 hours under this scope.

These teachers who received educator training will start providing training to other teachers regarding the curriculum changes in their fields in the provinces where they work starting tomorrow.
