The new season in Arnavutköy started with an abundance of bonito.

Arnavutköy Mayor Mustafa Candaroğlu set out for the tuna season with the end of the fishing ban and distributed the first caught tunas to the citizens.
Arnavutköy Mayor Mustafa Candaroğlu met with fishermen at the Arnavutköy Karaburun Port on September 1, the day the fishing ban ended. Meeting with the fishermen, Candaroğlu said “Vira Bismillah” and officially opened the fishing season. Wishing a fruitful and abundant fishing season, Mayor Mustafa Candaroğlu stated, “I wish all our tradesmen involved in fishing in Karaburun and Arnavutköy a prosperous and fruitful business. There have been bountiful catches in line fishing for the last fifteen days. Hopefully, our fishermen and friends who are passionate about the sea will have a fruitful season with nets as well. I went out to sea with our fishermen on the first day of the ban being lifted, and we had a fruitful start. This year, it seems like there will be plenty of tuna. I hope it continues like this. I wish for a season where all our citizens can enjoy fish to their fill.”
Moreover, emphasizing that the Arnavutköy Municipality has always been by the side of fishermen, Candaroğlu announced plans to organize an event under the name “Tuna Festival” next year. In the area where a large number of tunas were distributed, citizens also expressed their gratitude to Mayor Candaroğlu.
Hakan Kıldış said, “We thank our mayor for his interest and attention, and for the responsibility he has shown,” while Aziz Oğuz Kurt stated, “We are very grateful to our mayor for being the reason for such an event, supporting all our fishermen. This year, there are plenty of tunas, everyone will eat fish.”
Mayor Mustafa Candaroğlu left the port wishing the fishermen a bountiful fishing season and set sail saying “Vira Bismillah” while casting the first net to support the fishermen.
