Hazelnut purchases continue: “The market will stabilize over time.”

Fiskobirlik President and AK Party Sakarya Deputy Lütfi Bayraktar stated that there are some difficulties in the hazelnut market due to weather conditions and stink bugs, saying, “I think the market is confused due to some product defects and stink bugs, but over time the market will stabilize.”

Lütfi Bayraktar, together with AK Party Sakarya Deputy Ertuğrul Kocacık and Düzce Deputy Ercan Öztürk, met at the Fiskobirlik Akçakoca branch central warehouse and received Öztürk’s 1,941 kilograms of hazelnuts.

“I am delivering my harvest to Fiskobirlik”

Düzce Deputy Ercan Öztürk emphasized that Fiskobirlik plays an important role in the future of hazelnuts, stating, “For this reason, I am fulfilling my duty by delivering my harvest to Fiskobirlik.”

“The market will stabilize”

Fiskobirlik President and AK Party Sakarya Deputy Lütfi Bayraktar wished for a fruitful new season, saying, “The season has started. Of course, there are some difficulties brought by the season. The product could not develop due to weather conditions, and there is the pest of stink bugs. For about a year, both the government and the hazelnut working group in the parliament have been making efforts in this regard, but there are places where stink bugs have caused serious damage. However, as a result, the government announced a price. It should be noted that the government’s announcement of a price and saying ‘I will enter the market’ is different from the price itself. The government is actually saying ‘I am protecting the producer,’ which is important. This should be taken seriously. I think the market is confused due to some product defects and stink bugs, but over time the market will stabilize.”

“Past negative experiences are behind us”

Bayraktar emphasized their efforts to be alongside the producers and continued his remarks:

“For example, we are accepting products that have been damaged by stink bugs up to 30 kilograms. Thus, Fiskobirlik is actually the organization of the producers. The more the producer embraces it, the stronger it will be, and Fiskobirlik will take better care of its producers. The market will take some time to settle. September is actually the time for school, the time to meet the needs of our producers, but if we can endure, I hope the market will rise higher. Hopefully, the season will bring good results for the producers and the markets. This institution, Fiskobirlik, is the institution of its producers. The negative experiences of the past are behind us; this institution is moving towards better. There are 27 barcode productions, and we have exports worldwide. If we stand together in this process, we will cover the long road in a shorter time. By working hand in hand and in unity, we will ensure that both producers in Turkey are happier and that the markets are better, and that the global hazelnut market is more active and stronger. I say again, we need support. We should support each other.”

After the speeches, AK Party Düzce Deputy Ercan Öztürk delivered his hazelnut harvest to Fiskobirlik and received his receipt.
