Karagöl, located in the Şavşat district of Artvin, which carries the title of a quiet city, continues to be one of the favorite places for those seeking peace in nature. Situated 25 kilometers away from the district center, Karagöl, which resembles a heart from a bird’s-eye view, attracts the attention of tourists who want to spend a calm time intertwined with nature.

With its rich vegetation and wildlife offering different beauties in every season, Karagöl has become an attraction center for nature lovers with its camping areas, trekking, and photo safari routes. In the last days of the summer season, local and foreign tourists visiting Karagöl enjoy the heart-shaped lake view among the spruce and pine trees.

Karagöl, notable for its natural beauties and peaceful atmosphere, offers its visitors an experience intertwined with nature. Şavşat Karagöl, which is one of the first choices for those seeking peace and tranquility, makes a significant contribution to regional tourism by hosting thousands of tourists every year.

Göksu Özgen, the operator of Karagöl, stated that this natural beauty is a popular destination for both local and foreign tourists. Özgen said, “This place is known as Karagöl, but it is also referred to as ‘Heart-Shaped Lake’ due to its heart-like appearance when viewed from above. In recent years, especially the interest of foreign tourists has increased. We host many guests from countries such as Azerbaijan, Australia, Iran, and Germany. Of course, local tourists also come here. Şavşat Karagöl is a wonderful place to escape the stress of the city and see the heart-shaped lake surrounded by pine and spruce trees. I recommend everyone to see this beauty at least once in their lifetime.”
