The Osmangazi Municipality Folk Dance Group, which took the stage within the framework of the August 30 Victory Day events, performed a wonderful show.

Osmangazi Municipality celebrates the anniversary of the Great Offensive, which resulted in victory under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on August 30, 1922, with great enthusiasm. The two-day Victory Day celebrations began with the stunning dance performance titled ‘Anatolian Wind One Minute to Victory’ by the Osmangazi Municipality Folk Dance Group. The event was held at the Osmangazi Hall of the Merinos Atatürk Congress and Culture Center, attended by Osmangazi Mayor Erkan Aydın, CHP Osmangazi District Chairman Cengiz Çelikten, deputy mayors, muhtars, and citizens of Osmangazi. Those attending the night celebrated the victory with flags in hand. The hall was completely filled with the intense interest of the citizens of Osmangazi. Furthermore, Feyyaz Alptuğ Memişoğulları, a council member of Osmangazi Municipality who recently passed away, was also remembered. A photo of Memişoğulları was placed next to the chair where Mayor Aydın was sitting, and he was honored once again during the night.

The Osmangazi Municipality Folk Dance Group first took the stage with the liberation performance titled ‘One Minute to Victory,’ which reenacted the Battle of Dumlupınar. The performance was well received by the citizens attending the program. The 150-member Osmangazi Municipality Folk Dance Group continued the stage show with dances from Bursa, Adana, Kosovo, and Fethiye, along with a medley, modern dance, Roman, and ceremony. The performance of the Osmangazi Municipality Folk Dance Group was greatly appreciated, and the citizens applauded for a long time.

“Imperialism aims at the same goals today as it did a thousand years ago”

Osmangazi Mayor Erkan Aydın, who watched the performance ‘Anatolian Wind One Minute to Victory’ by the Osmangazi Municipality Folk Dance Group, stated, “102 years ago, at this time, without ever thinking of turning back, your first target is the Mediterranean. Without thinking of death for a second, they went and saved the country at the cost of their lives, enabling us to celebrate here today in freedom and independence. I bow in respect, mercy, and gratitude to the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades, and the martyrs who made this possible. May their souls be blessed. If we do not commemorate and preserve these days as they should be, rest assured that the one-toothed monster, namely imperialism, has set its sights on our beautiful Anatolia and lands, just as it targeted a thousand years ago and has never given up on this crusader mentality. The Great Leader knew this very well. Because he had fully absorbed how the Seljuks were destroyed. He had personally witnessed the fall of the Ottomans as an Ottoman pasha, and foresaw all these events when he founded the Republic of Turkey. God willing, it will live forever, and you will be the ones to preserve it. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the preparation of this night individually.”

At the end of the night, the excitement of victory was fully experienced with the waving of Turkish flags accompanied by marches.
