Located in the Alanya district of Antalya, Damlataş Cave, discovered in 1948, offers hope to asthma patients while attracting significant interest from both domestic and foreign tourists. Being the first cave opened to tourism in Turkey, Damlataş Cave has become a popular destination for thousands of tourists every year.
In Alanya, Damlataş Cave was accidentally discovered in 1948 during the blasting of dynamite for the construction of a pier when a stone quarry was opened. The cave has also become a focal point for asthma patients seeking healing. The high humidity inside the cave, a constant temperature of 22 degrees, and clean air help asthma patients breathe more easily. Asthma patients visit the cave upon doctors’ recommendations and spend a certain amount of time there. Notable for its stalactites and stalagmites that formed over thousands of years, Damlataş Cave stands out among the natural beauties of Alanya. With the increased number of visitors in the summer months, the cave makes a significant contribution to regional tourism, appealing to both health tourism and nature lovers. Domestic and foreign tourists wander through the cave’s mystical atmosphere, taking photos and having the opportunity to closely examine these magnificent works of art that nature has created over thousands of years.
Last year, 360,000 people visited the cave, while approximately 180,000 people visited it in the first eight months of this year. Asthma patients make up 55% of the visitors.

The interior is quite enchanting, a very different environment. However, it is a bit humid inside, so it would be good for visitors to keep that in mind.
