In the footsteps of victory
Stating that the August 30 Commander-in-Chief’s Battle is one of the most critical turning points in the struggle for survival that our nation has maintained for centuries, Yıldırım Mayor Oktay Yılmaz said, “Our great nation’s history is filled with great victories. However, August holds a special place in our history as the month of victories. As expressed by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Victory of August 30 is ‘a very great work that once again determines the high power and heroism of the Turkish army, Turkish officers, and command staff in history.’ With this victory, which is the immortal monument of the Turkish Nation’s thought of freedom and independence, our nation has shown the whole world that it will not allow its will to be shackled and that it will not let shadows fall on its independence and future. Behind the construction of the Century of Turkey lies the same unshakable will. With the new steps we will take together, we will strengthen our country’s power and elevate Turkey above the level of contemporary civilizations. On this occasion, I once again respectfully commemorate the founder of our Republic, the Commander of the Great Offensive, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and his comrades-in-arms, and I pray for God’s mercy on all our martyrs and veterans. Happy August 30 Victory Day.”
