Gokhan In, who was elected as the President of Sakaryaspor Club with a 45-vote difference in the Extraordinary Congress held on June 22, announced his resignation today after about 2 months in office. In the statement made from the green-black team’s social media account, he stated: “To ensure that Sakaryaspor does not fall under guardianship and to fulfill my moral responsibility as a Sakaryalı, I announced my candidacy for the presidency of Sakaryaspor Club. I was elected as the club president in the ordinary congress held on June 22. On this path we embarked with good intentions, we made the necessary urgent transfers, lifted the transfer ban due to previous player debts, conducted the pre-season training camp, and formed a football first team that completed 3 matches without losing. The events that took place during the past period, the incidents we witnessed, and the developments following these events have deeply affected me and all my fellow board members. I believe that after the developments that everyone witnessed regarding our attempts to ensure that Sakaryaspor, the biggest brand of our Sakarya, does not remain ownerless, it would not be beneficial for us to remain in office. For this reason, I resign from the presidency of Sakaryaspor Club, a position I started with great excitement and carried out with great pleasure and love, in order to protect the brand value of Sakaryaspor and to facilitate the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Sakaryaspor Club Association.”
