Bozkurt Mayor Birsen Çelik issued a message on the occasion of August 30 Victory Day. In her message, Mayor Çelik stated:
“August 30 Victory Day, one of the most important turning points in our nation’s history, is a day when the struggle for independence and freedom is crowned with victory. Under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his heroic comrades, our noble nation defended its homeland at the cost of their lives and ignited the flame of independence to never extinguish. This victory is not only a military success but also a symbol of our nation’s rebirth, our unity and solidarity, and our love for the homeland. This great struggle, fought against the powers that invaded every corner of Anatolia 102 years ago, ended in victory due to our nation’s determination and resolve. August 30 is not only the date of a victory but also the day when the foundation of our Republic was laid. This victory has been engraved in history in golden letters as one of the most important steps on the road to the independence of the Republic of Turkey. On this meaningful day, I commemorate with gratitude, appreciation, and mercy our honored martyrs and veterans, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades, who sacrificed their lives for the homeland. It is our greatest responsibility to protect this blessed homeland they left us with the same determination and resolve and to pass it on to future generations in the best way possible. Happy August 30 Victory Day! The enthusiasm and pride of our nation’s great victory will always live in our hearts.”
