Konya Metropolitan Municipality is carrying out maintenance and painting work on bike paths in Konya, which is far ahead in Turkey with its 635 kilometers of bike paths. Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that Konya being a bicycle city is of great importance not only in transportation but also in health, environment, and sustainability. He reminded that Konya has the longest bicycle path network in Turkey with 635 kilometers and that they encourage bicycle usage with exemplary projects, emphasizing that they carry out maintenance work as needed on the bike paths that are continuously used. Mayor Altay said the following regarding the matter: “We are conducting maintenance and painting works on various routes where the bike paths are renewed. As the Metropolitan Municipality, we are making a serious effort for bicycles to be used for transportation in the city. We want bicycles to be actively used with services such as our Bicycle Master Plan, bicycle tram, bicycle areas in municipal parking lots, pedestrian bridges for cyclists, and the bike repair vehicle Bisbulans. Within this goal, we aim to make Konya a more livable and healthy city by working together.”

As part of the works carried out by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality on bike paths, white line markings, bicycle symbols, and blue double-component bike path surface applications for intersection crossings are being performed. Through these works, deficiencies in the horizontal markings of bike paths are being addressed, thereby increasing the safety of cyclists and raising awareness. The Konya Metropolitan Municipality has also completed maintenance and painting works on various routes where bike paths have been renewed after the construction of bike paths completed recently on Necmettin Erbakan, Küçük Aymanas, Taş Camisi Uzunharmanlar, and Alparslan Türkeş avenues.
