The summer courses organized by the Altıeylül Municipality between July 1 and August 30 were completed with great enthusiasm and success. The summer courses offered for children born between 2012 and 2018 were conducted in the branches of judo, taekwondo, football, tennis, and basic gymnastics.

A total of 650 students participated in the courses, where young athletes had the opportunity to showcase their skills. The children had the chance to spend their summer vacations fully and improve their abilities in sports.

The organized ceremony was enriched with performances held for each branch. The demonstrations in judo, taekwondo, football, tennis, and basic gymnastics were watched with great interest by our neighbors. Altıeylül Mayor Hakan Şehirli and the Deputy Mayors who attended the event closely followed the children’s performances with great excitement. Mayor Şehirli and the Deputy Mayors rewarded the young athletes by presenting them with their certificates and various gifts. In the ceremony, which attracted great interest from families as well, Mayor Şehirli emphasized that sports nourish not only the body but also the spirit, stating that Turkish youth must be strong both physically and mentally.

“Sports nourish not only the body but also the spirit”
In his speech at the ceremony, Mayor Şehirli said, “This summer, we take pride in contributing to the development of our children through sports and physical activities. The performances exhibited by our youth demonstrated how advanced their talents are. We firmly believe that they will achieve even greater successes in the future. Together, we will do our best to raise sports and athletes in Altıeylül as intelligent, agile, and ethical individuals. In the words of our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, ‘Sports nourishes not only the body but also the spirit. Turkish youth should be strong both physically and mentally.’ It is our eternal duty to develop our youth in this direction in line with this beautiful saying. I thank all our trainers, neighbors, and children who contributed to these successes,” he stated.

The Altıeylül Summer Courses, this year, not only instilled the importance of sports and healthy living in children but also offered an enjoyable and educational experience. At the end of the program, the children gained not only sports skills but also valuable life skills such as self-discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence. Participants and children had an unforgettable day during the ceremony where various activities were organized.
