The 20th edition of the Yenice Peace and Culture Festival, traditionally held every year on the occasion of World Peace Day, will take place between August 30 and September 1. The festival will kick off on Friday, August 30, with the ‘Victory March and Lantern Parade.’ The march will start from Cumhuriyet Square and end in front of the Yenice Sıdkı Baba Cemevi. After the march, participants will have the opportunity to attend the screening of ‘Beynelmilel,’ one of the important works of Turkish cinema.
On the second day of the festival, events will start with a concert by Cengiz Sağlam and continue with a performance by the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Turkish Music Orchestra. The events taking place in front of the Yenice Sıdkı Baba Cemevi will offer participants an unforgettable musical feast.
On Sunday, September 1, events will begin at the Atatürk Monument in Cumhuriyet Square with a wreath-laying ceremony, a moment of silence, and the reading of the National Anthem, after which ‘Peace Doves’ will be released. Following that, a Peace March will take place to İnönü-Churchill Peace Park, where the symbolic Peace Wagon will be visited. In the Peace Panel, speakers will include names such as Haşmet Biçer, the Chairman of Adana City Council, and journalists Yaşar Öztürk and Çetin Yiğenoğlu. In the evening section of the festival, artists İlkay Akkaya and Silver Kesici will perform, and a Semah service will be held at the Yenice Sıdkı Baba Cemevi.
Buses will be provided from the old courthouse at the specified times for the events.
