Condemnation of the MP who insulted President Erdoğan from the New Welfare Party

Suat Kılıç, Deputy Chairman of the New Welfare Party, stated regarding the words used by CHP Deputy Tuncay Özkan against President Erdoğan on his social media account, “We condemn and disapprove of this insult directed at the President.”

Suat Kılıç held a press conference after the party’s Central Executive Committee (MYK) meeting. Making statements about the agenda, Kılıç addressed the change in the general secretary position in the party, saying, “Bülent Osman Osmanağaoğlu, a member of the New Welfare Party Central Decision and Administration Board, has been appointed as our party’s general secretary. He has been serving as the assistant general secretary for a while as a member of the MKYK. From today onwards, he will continue his duty as our party’s general secretary. We wish him success in his role.”

“The membership count of the New Welfare Party has surpassed 550,000”

Kılıç also provided information about the number of members in his party, stating, “The official number of registered members of the New Welfare Party in the Supreme Court system has exceeded 550,000 today. May it be auspicious. The New Welfare Party was already the third largest party in Turkey in terms of membership count. We continue to strengthen our position in third place. Our initial goal is to reach a membership count of 600,000, followed by reaching 1 million members. Our target in the following process is to surpass the registered membership count of the Republican People’s Party, which is the second largest party in Turkey in terms of membership, and thus exceed the figure of 1 million 600 thousand.”

“We condemn the insult, we disapprove”

In response to the question from İHA reporter about how he evaluates the expressions used by CHP Deputy Tuncay Özkan against President Erdoğan, “You snob, you,” Suat Kılıç, Deputy Chairman of the New Welfare Party, stated:

“We absolutely do not approve of the insult made by the CHP Deputy towards the President. It is a clear insult. The nature of it is apparent. The New Welfare Party aims to bring elegance and courtesy to politics. We condemn and disapprove of this insult made against the President, especially by our General Chairman Dr. Fatih Erbakan. No one has the right to develop insulting approaches towards another political party, the leader of that community, or the head of state with similar expressions. Everyone must be obliged to hear what comes out of their mouth while speaking.”
