CHP Chairman Özel: “We only want to focus on the real problems of this people.”

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel addressed citizens in Edremit district of Balıkesir.

Visiting the CHP Edremit District Organization, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel met with party members. Later, he went to Edremit Municipality and planted an olive tree in memory of the visit. Speaking to citizens in front of the municipality, Özel said, “We only want to focus on the real problems of this people. Despite scarcity, poverty, hunger, and misery, our goal is to embrace everyone against those who hope for a polarized society. We are the guarantee of the poor of the AK Party, the unemployed of the MHP, and the security of the members of the Great Unity Party. We are, we are one, we are Turkey. We are the Republican People’s Party.”

Özel stated, “We will fight here for the future of our youth, the salaries of our retirees, and the hard work of our workers, we will fight in the squares, in the rallies, but we will not fall into their traps. We defend the personal rights of the muezzins and imams whom they say will silence the call to prayer, we form a Turkey alliance from the colors of the flag they say will be lowered, embracing all the democrats of Turkey. We embrace all democrats, social democrats, conservative democrats, nationalist democrats, and Kurdish democrats, as long as they love Turkey and fight for our common future. Together, we will overthrow this tyranny. Together, we will establish the people’s power. Together, we will produce, together we will win, and together we will share.”

Highlighting the need for urban transformation, Özel said, “Edremit is a district on top of 20 fault lines, and urban transformation is needed here. Urban transformation is needed in Balıkesir. You are engaging in politics by tying hands with partisanship, not signing, not approving, but there is no politics in earthquakes. There is no politics in human life. There is no politics with babies and children trapped under rubble. Do what is necessary for urban transformation, open the way for us. Provide the necessary contributions. Do not bear the burden of guilt. I sincerely call out to you, and I warn you once again in front of history.”

Özel expressed that the Republic of Turkey was founded 100 years ago in great pessimism against occupations and epidemics, and the young, brave cadres who believed in democracy changed the fate of these lands, stating, “The Republican People’s Party is beginning to live the democracy it promises to Turkey by first democratizing its statute with the great change congress it will hold. Following that, with the beginning of the great program congress, it is preparing a program on how to manage this country, how to eliminate poverty, how to eradicate income inequality, and how to prevent becoming a country dependent on imports from a self-sufficient agricultural country, how to revive all sectors from livestock to beekeeping. Good news is that the Republican People’s Party is preparing to govern and revive Turkey once again after 100 years.”

Stating that better days are near, Özel said, “Those days are near when everyone will feel the honor of being human in their hearts. A place where no sect is marginalized, where cemevis are recognized as places of worship, respectful of all beliefs, providing equal service to all beliefs, not seeing anyone as a second-class citizen, and applying what is written in the constitution, putting what is missing in their constitution in the second century of the young republic, we have a path to walk together.”

Özel noted that his party would be the first party in the next general elections, saying, “I said that in the 1970s, Ecevit read the world correctly, read Turkish politics correctly. He identified the winds and difficulties correctly, and under his leadership, the Republican People’s Party emerged as the first party in all four elections, two local and two general elections. I kept my promise regarding the local elections, just as the Edremit people kept their promise to me. Now it is time to keep the bigger promise. Now it’s time to experience the bigger happiness. Rest assured that I swear that in the first general elections to be held, the party of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk will be the first party, it will come to power.”

After the speeches, Özel visited Mayor Mehmet Ertaş in his office, received a briefing about the municipality’s activities, and wished success to Ertaş.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who was given an Edremitspor jersey, completed his visit program after signing the guest book of Edremit Municipality.
