Pendikspor’s head coach Osman Özköylü, who concluded the week with a victory in Trendyol 1st League, blasted referee Feridun Daldaş after the match. Özköylü stated, “It really pains one’s heart to see a referee at this level giving such a ridiculous penalty in a match played at this level.”

In the 3rd week of Trendyol 1st League, Pendikspor defeated Adanaspor 4-3 away. Speaking after the match, Pendikspor’s head coach Osman Özköylü criticized referee Feridun Daldaş. Özköylü said, “It was a very difficult match in the extremely hot weather. We played well in the first half, we did many things right that we wanted. We created chances and scored goals. We went two goals ahead. Until the moment we conceded the first goal, the opponent had no chances, yet we conceded a very easy, simple goal. A team with players at our level should not concede such a goal. Thanks to the referee’s efforts, the match suddenly turned into a 3-3 draw. Of course, we also made mistakes, we had wrong decisions and deficiencies. But all of them were related to the difficulties caused by the hot weather, which prevented us from playing the game we wanted. If you give me the penalty, I swear I wouldn’t accept it. I say this very clearly. We’re not playing basketball; we are playing football.”

“They should let our referees watch matches from the English league”
Stating that his players exerted great energy in the 40-45 degree temperatures, Özköylü said, “One referee tries to influence the result of the match. It is unacceptable. Please, I kindly ask that they let our referees watch matches from the English league. It’s saddening; it’s a shame that in such a situation a referee should not make that intervention. It’s a sin against the efforts of the people.”

Özköylü concluded, “Referees who make mistakes should not officiate matches, it’s not that easy, it’s not that simple. Just because someone has a whistle doesn’t mean they can blow it for every situation. It’s not that easy. In 45-degree heat, these guys expend a lot of energy at a high level. All the kids probably lost one or two kilograms. But one person should not determine the outcome of the match from there. It is really sad; I feel upset and ashamed to say these things.”
