The teams of the Muğla Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry have closely monitored the dealers selling agricultural pesticide products that are prohibited for manufacturing, sale, and use throughout the province. Legal action is being taken against individuals who possess and sell products that threaten human health and the ecosystem, which have been banned by the Ministry.
Over the weekend, inspections were conducted in the Kafaca neighborhood of Milas District, where unauthorized sales were made. Inspections are ongoing at dealers selling agricultural pesticides throughout Muğla province, in accordance with the regulations on “Wholesale and Retail Sale, Storage of Plant Protection Products” and regulations regarding Agricultural Pest Control Tools and Machines.
During the inspections at retail dealers of plant protection products operating in Milas, technical teams from the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry carried out control and inspection operations. Legal proceedings were initiated against an individual who was selling banned agricultural pesticides in a mobile manner in Kafaca neighborhood during the inspections conducted over the weekend. It was determined that the majority of the products were past their expiration dates, and these products were confiscated.
Muğla Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Barış Saylak, stated that routine inspections are conducted four times a year at dealers selling agricultural pesticides throughout the province and that they do not compromise on the use of plant protection products that threaten human health. Director Saylak expressed, “Our colleagues during these inspections check the compliance of our dealers’ physical conditions with the legislation, the licensing controls of the plant protection products sold and agricultural pest control machines, whether prohibited active products are present in the workplace, the control of expired products, and safety measures, and strive to ensure the safety of our producers and ultimately the products that come from the field to our tables.”
Reminding that the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry prohibits the use and sale of plant protection products containing active substances that pose a risk to human health or threaten environmental and animal health, Director Saylak warned Muğla farmers not to purchase agricultural pesticides from anywhere other than authorized dealers. Saylak urged producers, “For the sake of protecting the health of our citizens, as well as for the conservation of the ecosystem and nature, please be sensitive about this issue and do not trust illegal dealers and individuals.”
