An inspection was conducted at the greenhouse located in the Karaoğlanlı Neighborhood by the Department of Urban Aesthetics of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality. Deputy Secretary General Pınar Mine Hacıalibeyoğlu, along with Department President Müge Kuğu and branch managers, received information from Facility Manager Arzu Yetişen about the facility. Deputy Secretary General Hacıalibeyoğlu stated, “We are making great efforts to strengthen the green tissue of our Manisa and ensure its sustainability. Our ornamental plant production facility plays an important role in this regard. While beautifying our parks, gardens, recreational areas, and medians with the plants we produce, we are also providing more economical solutions, contributing not only to our own areas of responsibility but also to the aesthetic appearance of all 17 districts. At the same time, with the aim of combating the climate crisis, we are focusing on resilient plant species against climate change, taking into account the conditions of the Paris Climate Agreement, to leave a sustainable and more livable environment for future generations.”
Produced plants are used in 17 districts
Müge Kuğu, President of the Department of Urban Aesthetics of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, stated that a total area of 50 acres is owned by the facility, which is actively using 22 acres, including 4,000 square meters of closed area and 18 acres of nursery area. Kuğu said, “The facility offers a wide range of products, from ground cover plants to shrubs, perennial and annual plants. In the closed production area, both summer and winter seasonal flowers are produced along with shrub production. A plan has been made to acquire 200,000 winter flower seeds for use in 17 districts during the winter season, with plants produced through seed and cutting methods. Among the flowers produced are gazania, pansy, ornamental cabbage, primrose, and same-seeding plants. Additionally, it is aimed to produce plants that have low maintenance and water requirements, which are close to Manisa’s natural vegetation for use in our future landscaping applications.”
