Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Career Center continues its training series aimed at job seekers, students, and employers, with the goal of providing the necessary knowledge and practical experiences related to the business world. Evaluating the requests from university students, the Career Center organized training for students.

The Career Center continues its training series at full speed to ensure that young people not only have a good career in their professional work life but also are employed in line with their professional and personal skills. Aiming to provide the necessary knowledge and practical experiences related to the business world in its training for job seekers, students, and employers, the Career Center provided training on ‘Job Search Skills in the Digital World and LinkedIn Usage’ for young people based on university students’ requests. In the training, young people were informed about the key to success in the changing business world with globalization, how to find job and internship opportunities, and the correct use of LinkedIn, which is one of the social media platforms that facilitate the development of professional relationships. In the training aimed at equipping young people with the necessary competencies and skills related to the business world, they found answers to their curious questions.

“We organize training for young people to keep up with the digital world.”

Career Center Director Serkan Özada stated that one of their most important target audiences is students, saying, “We organize training for young people to keep up with the digital world. We help our students understand the business world and professions before they graduate, and learn about the criteria for the jobs they will work in. A complete digital revolution took place during the pandemic period. We are now faced with the reality that jobs are being done by artificial intelligence. In this new world order, we are planning training to ensure that candidates can adapt to this digital environment in their job applications,” he said.

Özada, stating that they continuously update themselves and their training modules to keep up with the changes brought by business life, emphasized that the business network is currently maintained through the LinkedIn application, saying, “We showed our students how to use this platform, how to create a profile, and how to establish a business network. At the same time, we are trying to show the ways to create a profile in the digital environment and how to communicate effectively with corporate companies and professional managers,” he said.

Students found the training both efficient and beneficial.

Zeynep Nisa Şirin, a student of the International Trade and Logistics Department at Tarsus University, expressed that she learned about the deficiencies in her profile, how to complete them, and that there should be no missing information thanks to the training. Sude Çelik, also a student in the International Trade and Logistics Department at Tarsus University, stated that the training was very informative for her, saying, “Thanks to the training, I realized that I had made many mistakes in my CV before. In fact, many of us have been taking wrong steps in our profiles and have filled our CVs with unnecessary information.” İlter Kalınlı, one of the students who found the training very efficient, noted that the trainings organized by the Career Center are a great plus, stating, “I think people can change and direct their careers in the future.”
