İYİ Party Bursa Provincial President Mehmet Hasanoğlu has resigned.

Mehmet Hasanoğlu, the Chairman of the İYİ Party Bursa Province, has resigned from his position due to health issues. Hasanoğlu announced his resignation on his social media accounts and requested forgiveness from party members.

After serving as the founding district chair of İYİ Party Osmangazi, Hasanoğlu has held the Bursa Provincial Chair position for nearly two years. In a post on social media, he stated that he resigned from his position. Expressing that he has been experiencing health problems for a long time, Hasanoğlu mentioned that he made this decision after extensive consultations and asked for forgiveness from party members.

“We are at peace with our conscience”

Reflecting on the work done during his term, Hasanoğlu expressed his happiness, stating, “Since I was entrusted with the İYİ Party Osmangazi Founding District Chairmanship in December 2017, I have had the honor of holding two significant leadership positions within the Brave Movement in Bursa for approximately 7 years. As the district chairman of Osmangazi, I ensured organization during the state of emergency and worked with my team to achieve success for my party in Osmangazi during the General Elections on June 24, 2018, and the Local Elections on March 31, 2019. During my 5 years as district chairman, my team and I signed many firsts for our party both in Bursa and across Turkey. At the end of my 5-year term as Osmangazi District Chairman, I voluntarily handed over the flag by not running for candidacy at the 3rd Ordinary Congress of Osmangazi District on December 4, 2022, and subsequently, I was elected as the provincial chairman with 70% of the delegate votes at the 3rd Ordinary Congress of Bursa Province held on January 29, 2023. As a result of these efforts, our team has contributed to İYİ Party being the only province among 81 that has 2 members of parliament and 2 mayors, and regardless of what anyone says or any criticism made, we are at peace with our conscience. At this point, regardless of what anyone says or any criticism made, I have tried to serve in Bursa’s Brave Movement for nearly 7 years, contributing both materially and spiritually, sacrificing time with my family, working day and night, and sometimes neglecting my responsibilities at my workplace. Just as every person has their shortcomings, I must have had my shortcomings as well, and I ask for your forgiveness for any deficiencies.”

“I conveyed my thoughts to our chairman before leaving Bursa”

Hasanoğlu stated that he conveyed his thoughts about stepping down to İYİ Party General Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu during his visit to Bursa. He said, “While doing all this, unfortunately, due to a suspicious health issue that emerged from routine check-ups about a year ago, the results of tests I underwent from time to time began to show concerning trends. My medical treatment process started at the beginning of June 2024 and continues with an operation I underwent on July 18, and I am fighting to regain my health. Throughout my political career, I have had no issues related to the chair, and I still hold the same principle. On the first day my health problems arose at the beginning of June, I informed our Organization Chairman, Bursa MP Hasan Toktaş, and Bursa MP Selçuk Türkoğlu. I requested to resign from my position because I realized I could no longer provide the contributions I desired to my party. However, both of them suggested, “Mr. Chairman, we absolutely respect your decision, but first and foremost, please recover your health, and we will look at what comes next.” Their guidance is why the process has continued to this day. Before leaving Bursa, I also conveyed my thoughts to our chairman, who advised me to reconsider, and if possible, to continue without straining my health but assured me that whatever my final decision was, he would respect it. With this latest program, I want to share with the public that I am putting a final point on transferring my seat to a fellow party member who will be appointed by our Central Headquarters to organize Bursa Provincial Chairmanship due to my health problems. Lastly, during my 7 years of chairmanship, I first ask for forgiveness from my beloved family for enduring my intense pace day and night. I would like to extend my infinite thanks and gratitude to all the provincial and district board members who worked with me during this process and contributed to all the projects and activities mentioned above, and to all the district chairs and organizations during my provincial chairmanship.
