Tevfik Odabaşı: “Wrestling leagues will have away matches and the dates will be clear.”

Tevfik Odabaşı, who announced his candidacy for the presidency of the Turkish Wrestling Federation, stated in his speech at the Turkish Sports Writers Association (TSYD), “A clear activity calendar will be published with specific dates to form a corporate federation structure, wrestling leagues will be away matches and the dates will be clear.”

Former national athlete Tevfik Odabaşı announced his candidacy for the presidency of the Turkish Wrestling Federation at the Candidate Introduction Meeting hosted by the Turkish Sports Writers Association (TSYD). Odabaşı, who won a gold medal in the 60 kg freestyle category at the 2004 European Wrestling Championship, expressed that if he becomes president, he will establish a federation managed by the common decision of all stakeholders in the wrestling community.

“The Turkish Wrestling Federation will not be a needy federation”

In his speech here, Odabaşı said that almost everyone in his family wrestled and that he has held many roles related to wrestling since he was a young age. Tevfik Odabaşı stated, “The Turkish Wrestling Federation will not be a federation dependent on the personal discretion, foresight, or skills of one person; it will be a federation managed by the common decision of all stakeholders in the wrestling community.”

Odabaşı also mentioned the fundamental principles that will be part of their management approach, indicating that they will adopt a group management style rather than an individual one. He emphasized that they would support projects aimed at developing the wrestling federation and listed the election principles, stating, “To create a corporate federation structure, an activity calendar will be published with clear dates, wrestling leagues will be away matches and the dates will be clear, we will establish an impartial management for athletes, coaches, referees, and all other stakeholders by making merit the most important criterion, the national team selection criteria will be completely transparent and clear, and we will maintain continuous and effective communication with media organizations.”
