Schools are being painted in Şişli without ringing the bell.

Şişli Municipality has started maintenance and repair work in 35 public schools in the district just days before the schools reopen. Schools that have had all their needs addressed, from painting and cleaning to landscaping, have been prepared for the new academic year. Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan stated, “Our only concern is that our children can receive equal services in this city. This service is a reflection of that. We were responsible for preparing clean schools for our children in the new academic year, and we have fulfilled that responsibility.”

As the 2024-2025 academic year approaches, Şişli Municipality has initiated maintenance and repair work in 35 public schools within the district. Renovation works identified in the schools were carried out to ensure that students receive education in better and healthier conditions. With the completion of the work, the schools were made ready for the new academic year.

As part of the maintenance and repair work initiated by the teams under the Directorate of Science Affairs, desks and tables in the schools were repaired and cleaned. The interior and exterior painting of the buildings, as well as the painting and repair of garden walls and railings, were completed. Sidewalks were repaired and damaged roads were asphalted. Additionally, spraying was conducted in schoolyards and classrooms. The rainwater channels in the schoolyards were also cleaned.

Visiting the schools, Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan inspected the work at Halide Edip Adıvar Primary School on-site. Receiving information from officials during the visit, Şahan stated regarding the works, “As Şişli Municipality, we are in intensive preparation for the new period of education and training. We coordinate the maintenance and repair of all schools in Şişli through our 4 directorates. We are doing their painting, maintenance, and repairs. We are looking at the safety measures of the surrounding roads; we are renewing their sidewalks and making speed bumps. We are taking a more holistic approach at the city scale. For us, the priority is our children. Our only concern is that our children can receive equal services in this city. This service is a reflection of that. Our maintenance and repair works in all our schools have been completed. We were responsible for preparing clean schools ready for our children in the new academic year, and we have fulfilled that responsibility.”
