A woman in Adana regained her health with the surgery of “Pelvic Congestion Syndrome Vein Closure,” which is rarely performed using a minimally invasive method in Turkey, after complaining of abdominal pain.

32-year-old housewife Serap Abi, living in Adana, was diagnosed with “Pelvic Congestion Syndrome” during her visit to the hospital last year due to complaints of abdominal pain. Suffering from this condition, Abi approached Dr. Ferid Cereb, a Cardiovascular Surgery Specialist at Adana City Training and Research Hospital, last month.

Dr. Cereb performed the minimally invasive “Pelvic Congestion Syndrome Vein Closure” surgery, which is rarely done in Turkey, for the first time in the Çukurova region. After the 20-minute surgery, Serap Abi was discharged on the same day.

“Now it is done with a minimally invasive method”

Speaking to the İhlas News Agency, Dr. Ferid Cereb stated that Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (PCS) is a condition that frequently occurs in young women, characterized by the dilation and flow disorders of veins in the lower abdomen and groin. Cereb said, “This condition is very common in society. It is a disease that affects women, particularly in the groin area, and is frequently seen in the community. These patients generally went untreated. Previously, the only treatment was open surgery. Now we can treat this condition with a minimally invasive method at our hospital.”

“There is a treatment”

Emphasizing that PCS is not a condition without treatment, Dr. Cereb stated, “We performed this surgery for the first time in Adana. It is a rarely performed surgery in Turkey as well. This disease is not untreatable. There is a treatment, and patients should not hesitate to seek help.”

“I am comfortable now”

Serap Abi described her relief after the surgery, saying, “I was suffering from a lot of groin and abdominal pain. I went to the doctor because of these complaints. At first, I did not accept the surgery, but after meeting the doctor, I agreed to the surgery. I have no discomfort now, and my pain is gone.”
