At the Başiskele Water Sports Center, nearing the end.

The construction work at the Başiskele Water Sports Center, built in the Başiskele district of Kocaeli, has reached its final stages.

The water sports center, which is also mentioned in the election manifesto of Başiskele Mayor Yasin Özlü, is still being constructed at Yeniköy Beach in the Karşıyaka Neighborhood with the support of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality.

The foundation of the structure was laid last April, and the production of facade sandwich panels has been completed. The teams that also completed the screed production inside the prefabricated structure have subsequently finished the ceramic manufacturing. The teams are working intensively at a fast pace, and they continue with electrical and mechanical work as well.

Mayor Yasin Özlü, who is closely monitoring the project expected to bring significant added value to Başiskele, received information about the project from the relevant technical team.

During the inspection, Mayor Özlü made statements, saying, “We examined the ongoing works at the Water Sports Center, which our Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality has brought to Başiskele to contribute to the vision of integrating our city with the sea. This facility, built on a total area of 2,129 square meters, will serve our athletes and fellow citizens not only in sailing, rowing, and canoeing sports but also with its social areas.”

The center planned for sailing and sea rowing sports is expected to add great value to city sports. The project includes training areas for athletes, training sessions, and post-training use, as well as administrative units, social areas, and storage areas for sailing and rowing boats. With the opening of the facility, it is aimed to contribute to the athlete training efforts and international successes of water sports clubs in Kocaeli.
