Cooperation protocols have been signed between Alanya Municipality, the Turkish Radio Amateurs Association (TRAC) Alanya Branch, and the Search and Rescue Association (AKUT). Through the newly established Disaster Affairs Directorate within the municipality, trainings and preparations will be made against all kinds of disasters that may occur in the region.

Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik established the Disaster Affairs Directorate to carry out activities against all kinds of disasters in the city and to raise awareness among citizens, institutions, and organizations on the subject after taking office. While the Disaster Affairs Directorate continues its work, cooperation protocols have been signed between Alanya Municipality, TRAC Alanya Branch, and AKUT. Under the protocol signed with the Turkish Radio Amateurs Association, which holds an important place in our country with its system that provides communication opportunities in many natural and emergency situations such as earthquakes, fires, and prolonged power outages, Alanya Municipality has become a TRAC natural member. Thus, Alanya Municipality will benefit from services provided by TRAC such as hazard and risk analyses, guidance, search and rescue, firefighting, and transmission of emergency aid requests from the public. Additionally, training of the voluntary human resources formed by occupational safety experts, planning of amateur radio general technical infrastructures, sustainability of radio systems in possible disasters and emergencies, and the use of these systems in emergencies will provide benefits in many areas.

They will work in cooperation

With another protocol signed by President Osman Tarık Özçelik and AKUT Branch President Yaşar Yiğit Kaçmaz, interventions will be made in technical rescue incidents that may occur within the responsibility area of Alanya Municipality, such as fires, flooding, accidents, collapses, explosions, earthquakes, being stranded, and search for missing persons in mountainous and natural conditions. In addition, cooperation will be established between the Municipality and AKUT in the execution of first aid services, competitions, organizations, trainings, social responsibility projects, and drills.

President Özçelik: “We are preparing for every situation”

Making a statement regarding the protocols of great importance for Alanya, President Özçelik said, “We rolled up our sleeves to prepare our city for all kinds of disasters and emergencies and established our Disaster Affairs Directorate. Now we have signed cooperation protocols with two important institutions and taken our efforts a step further. In the event of any natural disaster in our Alanya, our region, or our country, we will be able to respond quickly and professionally under the leadership of our new Directorate. We hope that we never experience such events. However, we are preparing for every situation. I would like to thank both institutions on behalf of our city for their support and wish them ease in their work.”
