In his speech at the ceremony, Tamer Güner, a member of the 28th Committee, stated, “Our aim is not only to reward our successful students but also to ensure that these successful children always remember Mersin. We want to contribute to these successful young people, who will shape the future of our country, by having them serve for their city without forgetting Mersin.”
“We expect you to go as a spark and return as a fireball”
MTSO Board Chairman Hakan Sefa Çakır began his speech by congratulating the students, parents, and teachers, saying: “Today, you may go outside the city, but tomorrow you will go abroad to receive education. You should return to your country and city after developing yourself there to contribute to its future and development. We expect you to return from the places you go today as a spark, like a fireball.”
Çakır emphasized that Mersin is rapidly developing and will be the pearl and pioneer of Turkey, stating, “As you develop yourselves, we at MTSO are preparing our city for you by working on future-oriented professions such as software systems and robotic systems. Do not forget your city in the cities and countries you go to.”
Noting that education and commerce are intertwined, Çakır explained that the right education will also positively affect commerce. He expressed that the world is changing rapidly and that the education system needs to be structured according to the requirements of this changing world. Çakır said, “Today, everyone has to learn the same thing and walk the same path. We need to develop personalized education policies tailored to individual talents.”
After the speeches, plaques were awarded and gold gifts were presented to 6 students who scored full points in LGS and 6 students who ranked in the top 100 in YKS.
