Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that with the opening of the Tatvan ring road, the travel time of 40 minutes will be reduced to 5 minutes.
Minister Uraloğlu, who arrived in Muş by air from Ankara and then traveled by road to Bitlis, provided information about the Tatvan ring road and the two-tube tunnel along the route, and later made statements to the press. He expressed that after the ring road is completed and put into operation, the 40-minute journey will be reduced to 5 minutes, saying, “Since we started here, we have experienced some difficulties such as land acquisition problems and some ground issues. But we are grateful that we have now resolved them and continue our work. Here, in the current city transition of Tatvan, this is also the route to Van. We have an average daily traffic of about twenty thousand on the current city transition. Of course, in the summer months, it will clearly exceed twenty-five thousand, and perhaps it will be around thirty thousand. Currently, the short distance from Tatvan can only be traversed in forty minutes. This congestion is due to the commercial development of Tatvan and the interest shown in the area. We needed to construct a ring road here. We have planned this ring road to be approximately ten kilometers long, and as I mentioned earlier, we have started construction. When we complete this ring road, the traffic that currently takes forty minutes in Tatvan will be passed in about five minutes. We will have taken all the transit traffic onto a ring road. When we have taken a significant portion of it onto the ring road, the Tatvan city center will also become a more livable and commercially more developable area. Looking at our project, there are two double-tube tunnels, 1236 meters and 1270 meters long, which means we will pass through approximately two and a half kilometers with tunnels. We also cross the valley with an important viaduct of 140-145 meters in length. We are continuing our work on the earthworks and tunnels on site. We have been working on the T2 tunnel, which is approximately 1370 meters long, for both the right and left sides. We have completed the excavation and support works and continue our efforts. We had the necessary discussions with our team and our contractor company. We need to accelerate a bit more there. We will support this with the budget. Our contracting company will also continue in this regard. We will reduce the travel time of 40 minutes to 5 minutes. We will also shorten the current city transition road by about two kilometers. We will save approximately 3 billion lira annually in both time and fuel costs. Essentially, once we complete this project, we will recover the money we spent in a few years. We are talking about such a valuable project.”
After his speech, Minister Uraloğlu chatted for a while with the ring road workers and took a commemorative photo.
Then, Minister Uraloğlu is expected to hold a coordination meeting with institutional heads and mayors in the meeting room of the Bitlis Governorship.
