According to the research conducted by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Sinop has been chosen as the ‘happiest province’ in Turkey with a happiness rate of 77.66%.

The research by TÜİK shows that Sinop ranks first among the top 10 happiest cities in Turkey with a happiness rate of 77.66%. The city’s calm nature and environment stand out as reasons why Sinop was selected as the happiest city. Citizens living in the city express that these characteristics are fundamental sources of happiness.

Saim Gürbüz, the President of the Sinop Culture and Tourism Association, stated that the people of the city know how to live happily amidst problems, saying, “The title has returned to where it deserves. I believe that looking at this list, the city that truly deserves this title is Sinop. When you look at the city and its people, you can say, ‘yes, we went there, and people were really happy.’ This is the province of Sinop. If I am not mistaken, this is probably the 7th time since 2014. Why are they happy? Let’s look at it from a child’s perspective. In a small town by the sea, finding a port every day to swim, finding a beach every day, being able to swim in the sand, accessing the sea for free, reaching paid facilities, having beautiful establishments, and a lovely fishing harbor. Our city may have some problems, but our people know how to live happily even amidst those problems. That’s why the title returned to where it deserved.”

Arslan Pehlivanlı, a resident of Sinop, said, “We are adding happiness to our happiness. If it weren’t for the traffic problem here in the summer, we would call it the pearl of the region, but unfortunately, it seems we have no chance of solving the traffic issue. I don’t think anyone coming here will find a solution to that. Other than that, it is a quiet, calm city. The best part is that you can comfortably eat and drink day and night without security problems, and enjoy our beautiful sea.”

Nurcihan Keskin, who came from Germany to Sinop, stated, “Sinop is truly a beautiful city with its nature, sea, and people. Greetings and love to everyone from Sinop. I am really very happy. I am glad our city has been selected. I wasn’t born here, but my roots are here.”
