Search efforts continue for 70-year-old Sabriye Dedeoğlu, who went missing on July 15 in Menteşe district of Muğla, suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
Sabriye Dedeoğlu, who has Alzheimer’s, was last recorded by security cameras while walking near the Faculty of Health Sciences at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University. After that, the elderly woman could not be reached, and teams mobilized to find her. Dedeoğlu’s daughter, Saniye Dedeoğlu, stated regarding her mother’s disappearance, “My mother has never left the house before. She lives with my father. We had never experienced such an event until she left the house on July 15. A few days before she went missing, she mentioned that she wanted to go to their old home in Bandırma to prepare for winter.”
Dedeoğlu urged anyone who sees her mother to quickly report to the authorities, saying, “She was seen on security cameras around 2:30 PM on July 15 behind the Faculty of Health Sciences at the university, but no trace has been found since that moment. Reports have concentrated around Ula and its vicinity, but they have not been confirmed. My mother could be anywhere in Turkey. We are now worried about her life; we even started to think she might have been abducted. I kindly ask anyone who sees her to immediately contact the police or gendarmerie.”
Saniye Dedeoğlu expressed hope for good news from her mother, noting that AFAD and volunteer teams have been conducting intensive searches, stating that search efforts are being carried out meticulously in the forested area where her mother was last seen, saying, “AFAD teams have been searching non-stop for over 20 days. Searches will resume when a tip comes in or when there is a new finding.”
Dedeoğlu stated that the joy of her mother’s birthday is still vivid in her memory and thanked the authorities and volunteer teams.
While search efforts for Sabriye Dedeoğlu continue, her family keeps their hopes alive for good news from her.
