Earthquake victims will find morale by sweating in the green area

The traditional football tournament, where earthquake victims in the Samandağ district of Hatay will sweat on the green field, has started.

In Hatay, where the wounds of the earthquake are being healed, sports activities continue to take place. The 4th Traditional Neighborhoods Football Tournament, organized under the leadership of Samandağ Municipality to direct the youth towards sports and strengthen solidarity between neighborhoods, started with a protocol match for the Tahsin Demir Season. Fans who came to support their teams are enthusiastically cheering from the stands.

Samandağ Municipality President Emrah Karaçay stated, “This is our fourth Traditional Neighborhoods Football Tournament, but we call it the first. Because up until today, especially right after the earthquake, it was organized to help the people of Samandağ overcome the psychological effects of the earthquake. We unfortunately lost our late coach Tahsin shortly after the elections, who had previously worked hard to bring together the youth and adults of Samandağ in the same environment, to keep them away from bad habits, and to channel all their energy into sports. He made significant contributions to the previous three tournaments. We said let’s name this traditional football tournament after our late coach Tahsin, who was an educational worker, a sportsman, and most importantly, an example for the youth of Samandağ. Therefore, we decided to hold our tournament every year as the Tahsin Demir Neighborhoods Football Tournament. This year, we are holding the 1st Neighborhoods Tahsin Demir Football Tournament. We remember our coach Tahsin once again with mercy. He will always live in our memories. I wish success to all the teams participating in our tournament.”
