Yeni Malatyaspor Vice President Şahin Altunok stated that under the current conditions, it is impossible for them to participate in the league, but if the necessary support is provided, they could achieve something in a very short time ahead.

Recently, during the Ordinary Financial and Elective General Assembly of the Turkish Football Federation, the newly elected president İbrahim Ethem Haciosmanoğlu and his new administration communicated with Yeni Malatyaspor Club, expressing their intention for the team to participate in the league without disrupting the schedule. Subsequently, the TFF included Yeni Malatyaspor Club in the fixture draw, formalizing their decision.

Emphasizing that it is impossible for the club to participate in the league under the current circumstances, Yeni Malatyaspor Vice President Şahin Altunok said, “It is impossible for us to participate in the leagues starting in about two weeks in this condition. Our stadium is damaged, and so are our facilities. Additionally, due to our transfer ban, we have almost no players we can field. Of course, we have very talented young players at a very young age. However, many of these friends have not had the opportunity to play in a professional arena before. Moreover, as you can appreciate, most of the transfers made in our league this season are at the Super League level. There is an increasing quality every day. Therefore, although we trust our young players, putting them into such a challenging league will negatively impact both our club and the careers of these young friends.”

Altunok: “Our Yeni Malatyaspor is on the verge of becoming nothing for the sake of stubbornness.”

Vice President Altunok expressed that he could revitalize the Yeni Malatyaspor Club together with the city’s stakeholders, saying, “In the board meeting we held recently under the presidency of our Club President Adil Gevrek, we could not take concrete steps to solve the financial crisis we are in. Therefore, it does not seem possible for us to participate in the league this season. Our Club President Adil Gevrek took the decision to withdraw the team from the league, taking full responsibility upon himself. We will all see the damages this decision will cause to Yeni Malatyaspor in the coming days, despite all the pressures from the Turkish Football Federation this season. We cannot bear to see our Yeni Malatyaspor, which is the biggest social activity of this city and plays one of the biggest roles in promoting this city, plummet as if it has slipped off a cliff. When we entered this management, we set out with the hope of bringing this club to a better level than before. But at the point we have reached, we continue to pay the price for the great mistakes made in the past. I regret to say that despite all that has happened, the obvious mistakes still prepare the downfall of our Yeni Malatyaspor Club. I do not accept this. The eyes and ears of approximately 4 million Malatali around the world are here. Everyone is now expressing that concrete steps need to be taken, that there is no other way out. There is about two weeks left until the league starts. We have all witnessed how established clubs like Bursaspor and Erzurumspor collected huge amounts of donations overnight or in a few days. Bursaspor raised a significant amount of 250 million TL in a short time. Looking back, we have not done this since the day we took office. Whenever we present this offer, our way is blocked. When we look back at the times we said let’s solve this individually, our business people express that they cannot help as long as certain things do not change. Our Yeni Malatyaspor is on the verge of becoming nothing for the sake of stubbornness. However, I personally believe that we can save this team with all stakeholders of this city. If we unite with our politicians, business people, and fans, we can solve this issue. Therefore, some things must change in this short time; if they cannot, it should be stated that it cannot. Otherwise, we may not have another chance for this.
