Samsun Metropolitan Municipality (SBB) provided a 50% discount for students and citizens for journeys made with a subscription card and made transfers within 1 hour free of charge.
The Samsun Metropolitan Municipality UKOME made a series of decisions regarding public transportation. With the UKOME decisions, subscription cards have been made more advantageous to support citizens who regularly use public transport services. The student fare for trips made with a subscription card has been reduced from 11.50 TL to 5.50 TL. Citizens who own a subscription card will be able to travel for 9.70 TL instead of 19 TL.
Transfers within 1 hour are now free.
Mayor Halit Doğan promised to work on transfer fees following requests received before the elections. That promise was fulfilled with the UKOME decision. Transfers within the first hour of journeys made with SAMKART will be free.
Distance-based online calculation period for service fees.
A fairer and more transparent system for calculating student bus fees was implemented with a decision made in the UKOME council, benefiting both parents and transporters. With the newly adopted decision, service fees, which will be determined based on distance, will be automatically calculated by entering the home address and school address on the municipality’s website.
Public transport support for those under 18.
With the decision taken in the UKOME council, all current pass and similar document regulations have been abolished to allow those under 18 to benefit from all public transport vehicles at a discounted rate. It will be sufficient for young people to be under 18 to travel at a discount.
Tourism-focused public transport lines are being implemented.
As part of the “Focus Samsun” project, the Metropolitan Municipality is also implementing tourism-focused public transport lines. Bus services will be provided to Samsun-Vezirköprü Şahinkaya Canyon, Samsun-Bird Paradise, and Samsun-Ayvacık Dam. With the work done to give new momentum to tourism, it also allows everyone living in Samsun to see the beauty of the city.
The routes and fare tariffs of the tourism bus lines were determined by a decision taken in the UKOME council. The fare for the Samsun-Vezirköprü Şahinkaya Canyon Line, which will have a travel time of 150 minutes over 138 km with new generation buses providing intercity travel comfort, is set at 100 TL, and 80 TL for discounted users. The fare for the Samsun-Bird Paradise Line, which will have a travel time of 90 minutes over 57 km, is set at 55 TL, and 45 TL for discounted users. The fare for the Samsun-Ayvacık Dam Line, which will have a travel time of 90 minutes over 74 km, is set at 75 TL, and 60 TL for discounted users.
“Our fellow citizens deserve the best of everything.”
Evaluating the UKOME decisions, Samsun Metropolitan Mayor Halit Doğan stated, “Our Samsun, our fellow citizens deserve the best of everything, and we continue our service journey with this in mind. The UKOME decisions are also a part of this. With this application, we will make public transport more attractive. This will positively reflect on traffic as well. It is our duty to always be there for our students and fellow citizens. We continue our work with this responsibility. On the one hand, we are implementing public transport lines that will contribute to our ‘Focus Samsun’ project and introduce our tourism destinations to everyone. Samsun is our home, our nest. Prioritizing the happiness of our people and promoting our city is our greatest duty.”
