In Antalya, the ‘Women Cooperatives Product Sales Store,’ established by the Muratpaşa Municipality, has facilitated the direct reach of the handmade products of women’s cooperatives to consumers, achieving sales of 10,398 items and generating a revenue of 1,406,692 TL in the first 6 months of the year.
The Muratpaşa Municipality opened the ‘Women Cooperatives Product Sales Store’ in September 2022 at Prof. Dr. Erdal İnönü City Park to provide marketing and sales opportunities for production, business, and entrepreneurship cooperatives founded by women. The store, which initially started with 20 cooperatives, has now reached 33 cooperatives. During the January to June period of the year, 10,398 products were sold from these 33 cooperatives, generating a revenue of 1,406,692 TL from the handmade products adorning the shelves. The store is filled with delicious products ranging from noodles to jams, from molasses to vinegar, as well as colorful souvenirs, with food products being the most preferred items. In 2023, the women cooperatives sales store achieved sales of 23,150 products, generating a revenue of 1,704,000 TL.
Mayor Ümit Uysal stated that accessibility was a key consideration when establishing the store. He mentioned that a consignment sales model is being implemented, where shelves are allocated to cooperatives. “Our Antalya Restaurant sources local delicacies such as noodles, tarhana, and olives from here. Now, our neighbors can taste the geographically marked ‘rabbit heart’ olives at our Antalya Restaurant and purchase this special olive from our Women Cooperatives Product Sales Store,” he said.
