The municipality of Karatay district in the center of Konya continues its Summer Term education programs at the Karatay Nature School, which was launched to contribute to the love of nature and extracurricular learning for school-aged children. With this ongoing project in Karatay City Park, elementary school students are rediscovering nature through various workshop activities for a month, five days a week, while also contributing to their educational lives.
The Summer Term education at Karatay Nature School, implemented by the Karatay Municipality to support the personal development of school-aged children in the district, continues. Nearly 1,500 students benefiting from the Summer Term education at the Karatay Nature School, set up in Karatay City Park, are participating in workshops that offer applied training on agriculture, animal husbandry, zero waste, the environment, and many other topics. Within the scope of the training, activities such as clay ceramics production, basic life skills, compost making, and organic compost from waste materials are conducted in three wooden workshops at the Karatay Nature School. Additionally, children climbing the three-story Observation Tower have the opportunity to observe natural life, while also participating in many fun activities in the 100-square-meter Maze Orienteering Course.
Our children are our priority.
Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca emphasized that the project, which significantly contributes to educational life, is very popular among students. Mayor Hasan Kılca stated, “As Karatay Municipality, we continue our investments in education. We are continuing our education programs at the Karatay Nature School, which we established within Karatay City Park. With our project conducted in collaboration with the District National Education Directorate, we bring over 1,500 second-grade elementary school students here each year to provide them with both practical and theoretical training. The 2023-2024 Academic Year has ended, but we are continuing this beautiful project during the summer. Again, we are allowing nearly 1,500 of our children to be closely connected with nature, soil, and living beings in the workshops and areas we have created, while also reinforcing the education they receive at school through various workshop activities. We view our Karatay Nature School as significant for the out-of-school learning of the children to whom we will entrust our future. I would like to thank all the children who show great interest in our Karatay Nature School, stating that our children are our priority.”
