Members of the Niğde National Will Platform gathered after Friday prayers in Niğde to protest Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s speech in the U.S. Congress.
At the exit of the Central Dışarı Mosque, Burhan Karan, the spokesperson for the Turkey Youth Foundation Niğde Branch, made a statement condemning Israel’s attacks on Palestine on behalf of the group. Karan said, “As the genocide in Gaza is etched as a dark stain in human history; the U.S. has invited the genocidal, war criminal Netanyahu to its country and provided him the opportunity to speak in the U.S. Parliament. The factually incorrect statements made by Netanyahu, mocking the atrocities in Gaza, have been frequently met with standing ovations by U.S. parliamentarians. The U.S. Parliament has presented an image of shame that will not be erased from memory for centuries, just like Hitler’s Germany’s Reichstag. The mask of ‘democracy’ and ‘freedom’ that the U.S. wears has once again fallen with this horrific image. The applause in Parliament is undoubtedly both a glorification of the Western genocidal character and a funeral for Western values. We condemn the U.S. Congress, which harbors and supports the main perpetrator of the atrocities that Israel has been carrying out in Gaza for months. We extend our messages of solidarity and greetings to Rashida Tlaib, who stands alone in Parliament, and to the activists outside the Parliament. Palestine and Gaza are not alone. Even if everyone turns their back, Turkey will continue to support the Palestinian struggle under all circumstances. As the National Will Platform, we will continue to defend the oppressed against those who applaud oppression. We once again salute the noble resistance of Palestine and Gaza with respect. The help of God is near, many weak communities have triumphed over strong communities, and undoubtedly, the truth will prevail sooner or later. We extend our messages of solidarity and greetings to Rashida Tlaib, who stands alone in Parliament, and to the activists outside the Parliament,” he said.
After the statement, the group chanted slogans expressing that the people of Palestine and Gaza are not alone.
