Members of the National Will Platform and the Jerusalem Platform in Ağrı reacted to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech in the US Congress and his standing ovation with a press statement.
Citizens gathered in front of the Central Mosque to protest the speech of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom they labeled as a genocidal and war criminal, in the US Congress, and the standing ovation he received from American parliamentarians. Turgut Özmüş, the President of the National Will Platform and the Jerusalem Platform, made a statement on behalf of the group, saying, “While the genocide in Gaza is etched as a dark stain in the history of humanity, the US has invited the genocidal war criminal Netanyahu to its country and offered him the opportunity to speak in the US parliament. Netanyahu’s factually inaccurate statements, which mock the brutality in Gaza, have frequently been met with applause, often standing, by American parliamentarians. The US Congress has provided an image of shame that will not be erased from memories for centuries, just like the Reichstag of Hitler’s Germany. The mask of ‘democracy’ and ‘freedom’ of the US has once again fallen with this horrific image. The applause in Parliament is undoubtedly both a glorification of the West’s genocidal character and a funeral for Western values. We strongly condemn the US Congress for hosting and supporting the main perpetrator of the atrocities that Israel has been committing in Gaza for months. We send our solidarity messages and greetings to Rashida Tlaib, who stands alone in Parliament, and to the protestors outside the parliament. Palestine and Gaza are not alone. Even if everyone turns their back, Turkey will continue to support the Palestinian struggle under all circumstances. As the National Will Platform, we will continue to defend the oppressed against those who applaud oppression. We salute the noble resistance of Palestine and Gaza once again with respect. God’s help is near; many weak communities have triumphed over stronger ones, and surely, the truth will prevail sooner or later.”
Civil society organizations supporting the bill presented by HÜDA PAR regarding the prosecution of dual citizens supporting genocide and the confiscation of their assets emphasized that everyone should support HÜDA PAR’s bill to not forget the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
