Two days ago in Bingöl, Governor Ahmet Hamdi Usta visited the citizens injured in a knife attack, who are still receiving treatment in the hospital, and stated, “This is an event that deeply saddens Bingöl and us. The judicial and administrative aspects are ongoing.”
On July 24 in Bingöl, a drug-addicted individual carried out a knife attack, killing 4 citizens and injuring 5 others. Governor Ahmet Hamdi Usta, who was in Ankara at the time of the incident meeting with ministers, returned to Bingöl later that evening. He first visited the families of the deceased citizens, then went to Bingöl State Hospital to visit the injured. Conveying his best wishes to the families and the injured, Governor Usta later made statements to the press.
“If there is any negligence or issue, necessary actions will be taken regarding that,” said Usta, emphasizing that the investigation into the incident is ongoing. He added, “As you all know, as a result of a heinous attack, 9 of our citizens were injured, and unfortunately, we lost 4 of them. I was on a plane at the time of the incident and received the news upon landing. We had pre-scheduled appointments in Ankara related to Bingöl. We had meetings with the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Minister of Health, and AFAD. These were previously scheduled appointments concerning issues in Bingöl. I was already following the incident from Ankara. As soon as I arrived, I first attended the condolences and then immediately came to the hospital to visit the families and our patients. Of course, this is an event that is absolutely unacceptable. This is a situation that deeply saddens Bingöl and us. The judicial and administrative dimensions are ongoing. If there is any negligence or issue, necessary actions will be taken regarding that. I want our Bingöl to be at ease. I hope that such incidents do not happen again in Bingöl. And we expect the support and contribution of the community not only in the fight against drugs but in all kinds of struggles.”
During Governor Usta’s visit, Deputy Chief Physician Uzm. Dr. Nesibe Haydaroğlu provided information about the condition of the injured.
