‘Student city Mersin’ is waiting for its new students

Mersin, known as the ‘student city’ due to the opportunities it offers to students, is waiting for new students who will enjoy the city’s offerings throughout their university life.

“I invite students to study in Mersin”
Metropolitan Mayor Vahap Seçer called on young people to choose Mersin and its universities. Reminding that the results of the university entrance exams have been announced, Seçer said, “Our children will now make their preferences according to their scores. We are waiting for all our students in the fantastic student city of Mersin. There are many environments in Mersin where our students can be happy and fulfilled.”

Seçer stated that the public transportation fare for students in Mersin is 5 TL and added, “At the university entrance, there is a Neighborhood Kitchen where a meal costs 15 TL and free soup points. Besides this, we have reading rooms where our children can go at any time to study. There are opportunities to study in perhaps the most beautiful reading rooms in Turkey, overlooking the sea at the beach. Our cafes also offer part-time work opportunities for students.” Emphasizing that Mersin is a colorful city full of culture and art, Seçer stated, “We have concerts, events, and many environments where our students can have a good time. I invite all our students to study in Mersin.”

Metropolitan Municipality’s dormitories are waiting for university students
The dormitory services of the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, including the Male Student Dormitory in central Mersin, the Private Gülnar Higher Education Female Student Dormitory, and the Gülnar Male Guest House, are ready to welcome university students with their warm and comfortable environment for the new term. The dormitories provide all means to ensure students’ comfort, including breakfast, dinner, ironing and laundry services, internet, study rooms, 24/7 hot water, and heating.

Students do not pay for laundry at the Laundry Cafe
Considering the nutritional needs, which are one of the basic issues for students and youth, the Metropolitan Municipality offers three meals for 15 TL through Neighborhood Kitchens throughout the city. The ‘1 Bread 1 Soup’ service, which warms people’s hearts in winter, also warms students during cold weather. The Metropolitan Municipality, which considers all the needs of university students, also eliminates students’ laundry and ironing issues with the Laundry Cafe service, where students do not pay for laundry detergent and ironing.

The cafes, which have a rich variety of food and beverage options and are budget-friendly, are ready to serve new guests this year.

Providing a quiet and calm environment for students
Students looking for a quiet place to study for their lessons and exams can take advantage of the reading rooms and study centers provided free of charge by the Metropolitan Municipality throughout the city. Students, who benefit from free internet, coffee, and tea services in a warm environment in winter and a cool environment in summer, can study quietly and calmly.

Sports activities continue at full speed
The Metropolitan Municipality, which is frequently mentioned for its cultural activities, also organizes various sports events, enabling young people to enjoy sports to the fullest with marathons, beach tours, bicycle races, tennis tournaments, and bridge festivals.
