The Blue Flag, awarded every year by the Turkey Environmental Education Foundation (TÜRÇEV) to ensure the protection of beaches, has been granted to Ilıca Public Beach for the 5th consecutive year this year. In addition to Ilıca Beach, 12 beaches and 3 marinas also earned the Blue Flag.
TÜRÇEV conducts regular inspections each year to reward beaches that meet the criteria with the Blue Flag. Most recently, at a ceremony held in Çeşme, the Blue Flag was awarded again to the world-renowned Ilıca Beach, which has had a Blue Flag since 2020. Besides the Ilıca Public Beach, which is operated for free by the municipality, the Tekke Public Beach, Dalyan Kocakarı Public Beach, the beaches of 10 tourist hotels, and 3 marinas were also awarded the Blue Flag. The Blue Flags were raised again in a ceremony held at Ilıca Public Beach.
Çeşme District Governor Mehmet Maraşlı stated that there are 16 Blue Flag beaches and marinas in Çeşme. Çeşme Mayor Lal Denizli also said, “The Blue Flag award, which is the protector of the seas and the world’s number one eco-label, was awarded to Ilıca Public Beach, one of our three Blue Flag public beaches in Çeşme. We were once again deemed worthy of this prestigious award by receiving the 2024 Blue Flag Certificate. This award shows that Çeşme is not only a tourism center but also a district with high environmental awareness.”
