Hunter: “We want to make a good start to the season”

Trabzonspor’s head coach Abdullah Avcı stated that they want to start the season well by winning the match against Ruzomberok.

Trabzonspor head coach Abdullah Avcı and Denis Draguş held a press conference at the MFK Football Stadium before their match in the UEFA Europa League 2nd Qualifying Round against Ruzomberok.

Abdullah Avcı expressed their desire to start the season well by winning the Ruzomberok match, saying, “We are coming out for the first match of a football marathon that we expect to be wonderful. As Trabzonspor, we want to be on the field with the same excitement and plan as in every match. We started the season early. Today marks exactly one month. We took 27 days off, but we also had tactical rest for half of that time. Our president Ertuğrul Doğan and our Management Board ensured that most of our transfers were with us in the camp at the beginning of the season, and we thank them for that. Once we complete the remaining gaps, we will continue to build a team with plenty of alternatives. We want to show our fans a Trabzonspor that plays stronger, faster, more physically, more aggressively, more carefully in defense, and more effectively in attack this year, especially as a team that has already done this before entering this year. We are heading into the first match of the season tomorrow. Trabzonspor plays to win every match. We want to leave with a performance and score that will allow our fans to dream good dreams for the upcoming year,” he stated.

Avcı also evaluated the opponent, saying, “They are a team that won the cup in their league last year and qualified for the European Cup qualifiers. They set up a 5-4-1 defense and play tight defense, not leaving gaps between lines, and they are a team that completely chases transitions, organizing set pieces and throw-ins. In the first round of the Europa League, they scored four goals from set pieces in the match they won. They are also a team that plays a 3-4-3 formation in attack, trying to play direct football with more ball possession. We have been working on such a team since last week. I hope we will see the results of this tomorrow and start this beautiful marathon with a good victory.”

Draguş: “We want to win”

Trabzonspor’s new transfer Denis Draguş said, “Tomorrow we will play the first match of a long season. It will also be my first match wearing the Trabzonspor jersey. A good start will be important for us. Our team plays every match to win, regardless of the opponent, and wants to give its all in every match. We hope to achieve that tomorrow and get a good result. Considering their passion and fans, I am aware that I have come to Turkey’s biggest club. You can see the passion of the fans. You can see how well they welcomed me. Playing for such a club, in such a place, will be a great pride for me.
