Bursa Technical University (BTU) Faculty of Maritime is preparing to welcome its first students in the Department of Maritime Business Management. Graduates of this 20-student program, which is included in the preference guide, will be able to find employment in various departments such as operations and marketing in the maritime sector.

A new department is opening within the BTU Faculty of Maritime, which meets the need for a qualified and equipped workforce in the maritime sector. The ‘Department of Maritime Business Management’, which is also included in this year’s preference guide, will accept 20 students. The department will incorporate both practical and theoretical education, and students will also participate in the ‘Vocational Training Program in Business’ in their final year. This will allow students to gain industry experience before graduation. Prof. Dr. Gökçe Çiçek Ceyhun, the head of the Maritime Business Management Department, stated, “Our department continues to meet the high demand for well-equipped professionals in the maritime and transportation sectors with its international scope, multidisciplinary working areas that encompass many sectors, and increasing importance in rapidly changing global conditions. Through this program, BTU aims to provide students with a wide range of job opportunities and to contribute qualified and equipped individuals to the maritime sector.”

Qualified and equipped graduates for the sector

Prof. Dr. Gökçe Çiçek Ceyhun expressed that students in the BTU Department of Maritime and Business Management will be trained in accordance with international rules, standards, and accreditation criteria to become equipped individuals in the sector. Prof. Dr. Ceyhun stated, “This program, supported by a young, dynamic, and experienced teaching staff in the maritime sector, aims to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and work experience, helping them stand out in the sector upon graduation. Bursa Technical University aims to contribute qualified and equipped individuals to the maritime sector through this program by offering students a wide range of job opportunities.”

Employment opportunities in many fields

Prof. Dr. Ceyhun explained that graduates of the department can find employment in ship and management companies, brokerage firms, ship agencies, marine insurance companies, national and international maritime organizations, ports, and terminals, among others. “For example, graduates of the department can be employed in departments such as operations and marketing in ship agencies. Maritime Business Management graduates will possess qualifications to meet market demand in these departments, thanks to the maritime knowledge they acquire in addition to the fundamental information a business program graduate would learn,” she stated.
